Announcement: Reverence vs Teron Gorefiend: Ghosts Busted
Posted: Sarjin @ Wed May 14, 2008 1:50 am
Teron Gorefiend is a villain who has fascinated Warcraft fans for years. Thought destroyed after the events which transpired in Warcraft II, players were unpleasantly surprised to find out that the mysterious sage who told them about Gorefiend actually turned out to be Teron Gorefiend himself, having tricked them into getting the relics for him. (Or, in the case of alts, just wanted the very powerful blue headpiece which is the reward for the quesline.)

It seems that Illidan granted Gorefiend sanctuary, as he turned out to be the next boss we faced in Black Temple. Quite a hectic fight, with the ghost minigame being the key of the encounter. After about 90 minutes of trying, in a somewhat messy situation, his HP however ran out before all of ours did, and we had another kill to add to the list.

Announcement: Making some new friends in the Black Temple
Posted: Sarjin @ Wed May 14, 2008 1:42 am
Monday we had unfortunately run out of time to properly give the Shade of Akama enounter a shot, something we did have on Thursday however. After the door teams had gotten the hang of things, we were done rather quickly; the channelers and summoners quickly got taken out by the remaining DPS, after which Orceye got one minute of doing what he loves best: nuking without having a chance to pull aggro. The Shade of Akama went down, and with this portion of his soul no longer held hostage, Akama proclaimed the independence of the Ashtongue tribe, which promptly became a lot less aggresive towards us.

Announcement: Reverence infiltrate Illidan's Fortress of Doom
Posted: Sarjin @ Wed May 14, 2008 1:41 am
It had been coming for a while, but on Monday 21 April we decided that we had waited long enough with assaulting Illidan's fortress, the Black Temple of Karabor. With a full raid of motivated people, we arrived in Shadowmoon Valley to break down his gates and overrun his defenses, only to discover that a little more subtlety was needed with an infiltration through the sewers. We encountered his first minion in these sewers, a naga by the name of High Warlord Naj'entus. Why he looks so peculiar compared to most naga is a question which still remains open, at least he was kind enough to give us healers a bit of a challenge for once. A short while of practise in spearthrowing later he still ran out of health however.

Out of the servers, we entered the training area we had been meaning to assault all along, and were greeted by a collection of Dragonmaw orcs, netherdrakes and demons. Nothing overly hard, although Blizzard could have easily made the place work with about half the amount of trash. With the entire grounds clear however, we met up with Supremus. An infernal who can seemingly hit fairly hard, is absolutely huge, but has the intelligence of a 3 year old. We did the maths, and shortly after had a pile of rubble at our feet.

Announcement: Azgalor dies a painful death as well
Posted: Sarjin @ Wed May 14, 2008 1:40 am
With Kaz'rogal out of the way, we were left with just one boss before Archimonde: Azgalor. The trash accompanying him turned out to be fairly relaxing compared to his predecessor, since Infernals might seem dangerous, but are a lot less threatening when faced by several warlocks who have little problems controlling them. Azgalor himself at least put up a bit more of a fight; he actually hits for respectable numbers, has a fairly nasty Rain of Fire and periodically kills a person at will. Thanks to most players having gotten extensive training in the art of staying out of the fire, the whole skillset still didn't amount to much however. After collecting our first pieces of Tier 6, we decided to visit Tyrande Whisperwind in the Nightelf base and have a chat with Archimonde. He seemed in a pretty lousy mood however, and showed us his great skill in efficiently wiping raids. He will pay for that in the future though.

Announcement: Kaz'rogal, or how trash can feel like the actual boss
Posted: Sarjin @ Wed May 14, 2008 1:39 am
With 2 Mount Hyjal kills in the books, we were up for a trip to the Horde base, where we got greated by everybody's favorite Shaman. (well aside from Rydhon, as Thrall doesn't drop Windfury totem) The trash actually got sort of interesting as the difficulty mounted, but was still quite doable. With the trash out of the way, Kaz'rogal decided to come and greet us. In the actual Battle of Mount Hyjal this guy was never there, and having done the fight, it's fairly easy to see why. Sure, his manaburning abilities might make him a sought after component of an arena team, but aside from that his threat level is about non-existent. In the end we had another corpse to dance in front of however, as well as the question why the trash in front of him actually seemed harder.
